Membership
Under the name "EURO-JICs" are united those companies, which carry out,
monitor or promote the national media research in their respective
countries on a neutral, tripartite, non-profit basis (Joint Industry
Committees). Media owned companies (MOC) which work neutrally with the
same philosophy on a non-profit basis can also become members.
Main purpose
The main purpose of EURO-JICs is the harmonisation of the research
about the Internet and other interactive and/or digital media on a
European level, and to provide audits of such research projects. EURO-JICs
will work towards improvement, standardisation and uniformity of
definitions, methods and reports within its membership and encourage other
research organisations to adopt the same rules and to inform corresponding
bodies.
Pan-European Internet-Surveys
EURO-JICs will provide the marketplace with comparable basic data on
Internet usage on a European level. In order to be representative for the
population, this information should be collected in large random samples
(i.g. National Readership Surveys, etc.).
Participation of other research companies
In order to publish a comprehensive report, EURO-JICs encourages
research bodies in countries, where no JIC, nor MOC exists, to provide the
same data, derived from similar sources and same quality standards, to be
included in the overall-report established by EURO-JICs.
