Use of online packages

When looking at the table below, please bear in mind that, Belgium (excepting Internet and email - "the last months"), Germany and Spain are dealing with Internet activities within the last 30 days while Austria, Great Britain, and Switzerland are focusing on use in general.

There seems to be a diversification of the use of online packages.
Email and World Wide Web are still most used and are closely followed by the search engines.
Buying and news have a mean position, while gaming and banking are still less used though they are progressing.

Home penetration of the Internet

Next to the personal use of the Internet at home, there remains the question about the home penetration of the Internet. EURO-JICs recommends in the model questionnaire to enquire about access/connection to the Internet at home, independent from personal use of the respondent at home.

Austria and Germany have a middle position with approximately 40% home penetration.
Spain has the lowest home penetration though even in Spain one in four people has access to Internet at home.
At the other end of the spectrum, in Switzerland 60,8% of the population has Internet access at home.

Time spent on Internet yesterday

This information is not available in Austria, Belgium, France, Great Britain nor in Switzerland.

In Germany the time spent on the Internet the day before is 114,25 minutes and in Spain 123,3 minutes.
